Area Police
Approximately 50 vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human blood in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were marked, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday, when a resident observed that a car in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been covered with a red-colored substance.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located numerous other smeared vehicles and building exteriors in the adjacent neighborhood.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Officials say initial examinations indicate the fluid was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no lead as to its source; officials are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the occurrence," they commented.
City officials announced they were trying "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the community for information.
A high-ranking official stated the vandalism made him speechless and required to be resolved quickly.
"This incident affects the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, mentioning the murder of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
