2K Games has secured Ben Brinkman from Respawn Entertainment to lead the development team at their internal studio, which is currently crafting the anticipated third-person roguelike extraction-shooter known as this innovative game.
Leadership Change Follows Lukewarm Reception
Brinkman takes on the role of studio head at the development studio following the exit of former leader Michael Condrey, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing initial reveal last autumn.
Recently, the company's top executive a key figure notified team members about this strategic move through an official communication, which emphasized that playtesting had indicated the necessity for a distinct direction.
Ismailer stated that the developers is now overhauling Project Ethos with a revised approach, aiming to satisfy player expectations.
Trend of Key Hires
The news mirrors a comparable action taken by the publisher in August, when they hired an industry veteran from the Diablo team to assist with the beloved franchise development group.
Below is the complete message from Ismailer's communication:
Dear Team—
I know you all just finished your meeting - I hope you’re as excited as I am with the good news. Last time I shared you all a update, I expressed the following: “I believe in this group. You all are some of the most dedicated and talented creators we have had the opportunity to collaborate with - and we’re looking forward for that relationship to persist.”
Through your commitment and adaptability, especially over the last year, you repeatedly show that.
The community feedback from last fall’s Project ETHOS demo was enlightening. It validated the appeal of a action-packed game but made clear we still had work to do. It highlighted the requirement for a clearer brand.
The progress is encouraging to see how far you’ve progressed. You took the feedback to heart and overhauled the title with a revitalized direction - one that’s ready to fulfill its potential to our players.
Our confidence in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To further the outstanding development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce the new hire as the new Lead of the team. Following a period of talks, Ben starts with us on next week.
His leadership and experience in the PVP shooter field is extensive, having devoted the past decade and a half producing and managing some of the most popular franchises in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and lately, Apex Legends.
I invite you all in receiving Ben in the coming days. We are all eager to persist observing the development of the game in the months to come.
The President

"Build your perfect run—or die trying—in this 3rd-person action shooter! Build your hero in real-time to match your preferred approach," the official summary states. "Face the competition with new abilities, risks, and challenges that evolve every match. Do you withdraw carefully with your valuable rewards? Alternatively aim high, put it on the line, and pray your team can earn top ranking? The decision is in your hands."
The game has not yet received an announced debut schedule or supported systems, but players can anticipate additional details as production advances.
